Lending a paw

It's Important to Paws publications help us give back to the community.

  • Proceeds from book sales are donated to animal care, adoption and rescue organizations.

  • Free copies of It's Important to Paws are distributed throughout Alaska for the residents, visitors and patients of many hospitals and assisted living homes.  This brings the love of animal companions to those who are not able to have them in their lives day-to-day.

  • It's Important to Paws artwork decorates the walls of more than a dozen businesses and medical institutions throughout Anchorage.  Our portraits of animal companions bring smiles to people, young and old when they need them the most.

  • It's Important to Paws allows the studio to continue its tradition of providing free portraiture work for local animal care/rescue organizations.  This program, in partnership with Friends of Pets and other volunteer organizations, has helped find forever homes for more than 1,700 cats and dogs since 1989 - including the two puppies shown here (photographed in 1991.)
